Kennesaw State University fired softball coach Tory Acheson Wednesday, Aug. 3 after an investigation found that he violated the university’s sexual harassment policies.
The investigation, which was led by the school’s Title IX committee, found that Acheson made inappropriate comments toward different members of the team. The investigation began after an anonymous letter was sent to the school’s administration in June 2016.
“We are extremely disappointed in coach Acheson’s behavior and apologize to our student-athletes and their parents,” KSU interim President Houston D. Davis said in a statement given to the media. “This type of conduct simply will not be tolerated at Kennesaw State.”
Acheson was with the school for four years and on the brink of beginning his second full season as head coach of the program. He had a 62-47 record while leading the Owls.
