Changes in KSU leadership have been announced by Dr. Houston D. Davis, who will be taking over as Kennesaw State University’s interim president following Daniel S. Papp’s retirement June 30.
In a letter sent to KSU faculty and staff Tuesday, Davis named three interim chiefs responsible for finances, information and human resources. Davis said that he will be working directly with the new officers during the presidential transition.
The changes follow a series of reports released June 2 that revealed financial misconduct in the office of President Papp. The reports revealed that Papp had received early payment for retirement, which was a violation of USG policies. Audits also revealed a financial deficit and a conflict-of-interest in KSU’s dining and food services.

Davis’ leadership changes include:
- Interim Chief Financial Officer: Julie Peterson, who served as controller in the Office of Finance and Accounting.
- Interim Chief Information Officer: Lectra Lawhorne, who previously served as associate chief information officer and associate vice president for UITS.
- Interim Chief Human Resources Officer: Alicia Stignani, who served as director of Human Resources Services.
Each of these leaders have an unequivocal role in carrying out essential functions for this institution,” Davis said in the letter. “You know each of them as they are already familiar leaders on campus. I am excited to work with them in this transition.
Davis did not say whether the officers would be taking over immediately or if the changes will take effect once Davis officially becomes interim president on July 1.
