Kennesaw State’s volleyball team is perfect through two games this season after dismissing the Savannah State Lady Tigers Saturday afternoon 3-0.
The Owls (2-0) have yet to drop a set after claiming a 3-0 win over the Alabama State Hornets Friday night.
“I’m really happy, that again like last night, we have been distributing the ball to a lot of players,” KSU head coach Keith Schunzel said. “We got a lot of players in the game today and I feel like even though we are young, we are a much more experienced team than we have been in the past in a lot of different areas.”
KSU only fell behind 1-0 in the first two sets, but came roaring back for decisive set-wins, claiming the first set 25-10, the second set 25-13 and the final set 25-10.
Freshman Sydni Shelton led the led the Owls in attacks and kills with 16 and nine, respectively. Through her first two collegiate games, Shelton has amassed 17 kills and 29 total attacks. The Danville, Alabama native leads the team with a .552 hitting percentage for players with over 20 total attacks.
“I’m a freshman and I’m still getting used to everything, but everyone makes me feel so much more comfortable on the floor,” Shelton said. “If wasn’t for all of their support I would be so nervous and out of my head but they keep me focused.”
KSU faces Jacksonville State tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Convocation Center.
