The Sentinel got a chance to sit with the supporting cast of 20th Century Fox’s latest release, “The Maze Runner” during the cast’s tour stop in Atlanta at King Plow’s, Terminal West.
“The Maze Runner,” based on the best selling novel by James Dashner, is one part of a science fiction trilogy centered on a post-apocalyptic setting. The movie stars Dylan O’Brien (Thomas) from the hit MTV television series, “Teen Wolf,” “We’re the Millers” star Will Poulter (Gally) and “Clash of the Titans” actress Kaya Scodelario (Teresa).
During the roundtable interview, we were able to chat with supporting cast members, Will Poulter and Kaya Scodelario.
In a dimly lit room with green lighting centered around a cut out of “The Maze Runner” promo poster entered both Will and Kaya, who not only extended their hands to each interviewer but also introduced themselves giving you a warm feeling like you ran into an old pal from elementary.
The Sentinel: What were the most interesting parts of filming?
Will: To me, the best parts were when we got to film the most intense scenes.
Kaya: Though we rarely filmed together, we remained close, so I believe that’s one of the interesting moments.
The Sentinel: Will, how do you feel about your ability to be versatile from dramatic roles such as “Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” to the comedic “We’re the Millers?”
Will: Personally, I go with what the need for the character calls for, to be able to conform to the role allows you to be able to not be limited to one style of acting.
The Sentinel: Kaya, what do you love about this movie?
Kaya: I love this movie because it doesn’t have the typical romance plot; it is about togetherness and understanding each other. The forming of a brotherhood if you will.
The Sentinel: Kaya, How do you feel your career has changed since you played Effy in “Skins?”
Kaya: Wow, totally different, “Skins” was my first acting role. I feel that my acting ability has changed for the better and allowing more opportunities. I definitely wouldn’t give it up for the world.
The Sentinel: As British actors, how hard is it to speak in different tones other than your native?
Kaya: Difficult. Will is a natural. He can do various voices other than his natural accent.
The Sentinel: What are two things that you couldn’t live without besides acting and family?
Will: My dogs and music.
Kaya: Me too, I agree. So I’ll say the same!
The Sentinel: Would you do anything else besides acting?
Kaya: Definitely wouldn’t give up acting, I love to do it. Acting is my passion.
Will: Same here, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else in the world.
“The Maze Runner” is in theaters now and came in at the top of the box office during its debut last weekend. It brought in an estimated $32.5 million, certainly enough to guarantee that an adaptation of the sequel novel is happening.
