Ten days after announcing his provisional 30-man roster for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, U.S. men’s national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann has already settled on his final 23-player roster for the event.
Goalkeepers: Tim Howard (Everton), Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)
Defenders: DaMarcus Beasley (Peubla), Matt Besler (Sporting KC), John Brooks (Hertha Berlin), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Timmy Chandler (Nürnberg), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Fabian Johnson (Borussia Mönchengladbach), DeAndre Yedlin (Seattle Sounders)
Midfielders: Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC) , Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo), Mix Diskerud (Rosenborg), Julian Green (Bayern Munich), Jermaine Jones (Besiktas), Graham Zusi (Sporting KC)
Forwards: Jozy Altidore (Sunderland), Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders), Aron Johannsson (AZ Alkmaar), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes)
Despite earning a spot in the team’s training camp, Landon Donovan fell short in his bid to participate in a fourth World Cup.
Terrance Boyd, Joe Corona, Maurice Edu, Brad Evans, Clarence Goodson and Michael Parkhurst were also cut from the preliminary roster.
The United States’ World Cup campaign begins against Ghana on June 16 in Natal, Brazil.
The first warm-up match for the newly refined roster takes place on May 27 against Azerbaijan in San Francisco. Two more matches, against Turkey and Nigeria, will follow.
