Changing Lives One Warm Neck at a Time

“The key to having a job you love is doing something you’re passionate about,” said senior business major, Jessica Stewart.

Stewart is the co-owner of COLORS, a social business that provides underprivileged people an opportunity to provide for themselves by teaching them creative skills, such as making scarves. The best thing about this social business is that it gives the consumer the opportunity to purchase products that will help someone in need at the same time.

COLORS is partnered with Destiny Rescue in Chang Rai, Thailand and provides girls rescued out of sex-trafficking the opportunity to learn how to crochet and use that skill to provide for themselves and their families. The products they make are then sold at trade shows, craft markets or on Etsy. All profits from these scarves are reinvested into the company to benefit the rescued women.

“This is more than a business for us, it’s a ministry,” said owners Stewart and Steen Jones. They are passionate about their work with COLORS and see this as more than just a business.

“We don’t make any money, but I don’t do it for the money. I do it because I love being able to pursue something I’m passionate about,” said Stewart.

COLORS will be showcasing some of their scarves at the Marietta Square Artists’ Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 27. You can also visit the website at www.colorsinallcaps.com to see their inventory and find out more about their company.
