U mad bro?
On February 25 at 2:51 a.m. an officer was dispatched to the University Village Suites dorms in reference to a public peace offense. An RA met with the officer and said she and a few other RAs observed two white males throwing the bikes in the bike rack and damaging property around the building. Three other officers arrived and they began searching for the two males. They ended up at an apartment in the Suites, and an RA confirmed the two males there were the two she saw causing damage. The officer reported smelling alcohol, and the two males confirmed they had been drinking. They also said it was “stupid” to cause the damage and that they were just angry with some members of a fraternity. They were taken into custody for underage consumption. Damage included the thrown bikes, foot prints on the light poles where they had been kicked, and damage to a couple of pipe systems.
Elusive Facts
On March 24 at 12:04 a.m. an officer observed a truck tailgating another vehicle on Chastain Road. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Ben King Road off of Big Shanty Road. The truck then turned right onto Cherokee Street, eluding the officer. The truck eventually stopped in a gas station. The driver was placed under arrest; she told the officer she turned onto Big Shanty to avoid him and she did not think the KSU Police were in their jurisdiction to pull her over. She was issued citations for attempting to elude, following too closely, failure to maintain lane, no insurance, driving with suspended registration and operating unregistered vehicle.
At Least He’s Honest?
An officer observed a vehicle driving recklessly on Chastain Road on March 8 at 1:46 a.m. He followed the car, which failed to maintain its lane and entered the Mills apartments through the exit, speeding recklessly through the apartment complex. The officer conducted a traffic stop and could smell alcohol coming from the driver’s side window. The driver said he had two rum and Cokes and a few beers. The officer had him step out of the car, and the driver seemed unsteady on his feet, swaying as if he would fall forward. He agreed to blow in to the Alco-Sensor, which tested positive for alcohol. He admitted to the officer that he was “too impaired” to be driving. The driver then participated in the field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was arrested for drunken driving, speeding, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, driving on the wrong side of the road and driving too fast for conditions.
