SGA has decided to change SGA Week to SGA Month because they feel they can have a higher quality of events if they spread them out rather than try to squash them into one week. They will be having roughly one event per week during the month of April.
There will be one week where the SGA representatives of each College will host an event in their building to become acquainted with the students and show who their Senators are and how students can get involved in SGA.
The first event of SGA Month will be the Student Services Fair, held on April 2.
According to Director of Student Services Tracy Robinson, they are hoping for this to be a huge event including entertainment, food and drinks, fun and games and free giveaways. The free giveaways will include discount cards, T-shirts, ID holders, sunglasses and mood cups.
Also in this meeting, SGA Vice President Rosalind Hedgepath and Senator Katherine Street spoke about the new Strategic Thinking and Planning Committee.
The committee started last semester to deal with a 5-year plan to make KSU an all-around better university.
The projected vision for these next five years is, “KSU will be a nationally prominent university recognized for excellence in education, engagement and innovation,” said Hedgepath.
The committee currently only has two student seats, occupied by Hedgepath and Street, but by bringing the committee to SGA’s attention, they are allowing the students of KSU to voice their concerns to SGA, and by extension the committee itself.
I see that SGA is up to the same old lets-do-stuff-but-not-really-DO-anything strategy.
Oh well, I guess its better than trying to buy massage chairs.
