Industrial / Manufacturing Engineer Intern

Job Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer Intern develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls; coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Responsible for completing projects throughout the organization utilizing Lean and Six Sigma process improvement methods. Will work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering Team to identify and drive Lean initiatives resulting in general performance improvement and ensuring the adoption of a customer focused philosophy across all processes.
Responsibilities:
• Carries out process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training. Implement CI methodologies, including Lean and Six Sigma, in the daily plant operations
• Improves manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency.
• Prepares and presents plans for the above and coordinate deployment including training of team members.
• Completes Time Studies and develops new standard work with minimal waste in the process.
• Learn to direct cross functional teams via kaizen events to foster a Lean company culture.
• Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
• Ensure that Lean and CI tools are properly used through audits.
• Ensure effective root-cause analysis and permanent corrective actions are implemented.
• Lead or assist efforts to implement and maintain stout 5S, TPM and Standard Work programs
• Use Key Performance Indicators to generate corrective and preventative actions and to track and measure
effectiveness of Lean initiatives

Requirements:
• Enrolled in an accredited engineering Program.
• Excellent PC application skills (MS Office, etc.,)
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.
