Scars are Sexy

Two organizations have announced their campaign, which starts March 26, 2012 to help individuals embrace the “scars” of their lives. Physical, emotional or psychological, the “Scars R Sexy” campaign, will serve as a platform where people can share their scar stories, and how their experiences have made a significant definition in their lives.

Live Wright Society is a nonprofit organization that uses music, art, film, photography and events to raise awareness for worthy causes. Their mission: to encourage the act of paying it forward.

RockScar Love is a quickly growing, trend setting, clothing company focused on helping individuals with physical, mental and emotional scars. Owner, Amy Tippins, is providing a way to inspire others to live passionate lives.
“We are asking for a call to action in the article to the students to promote the campaign by signing a shirt, buying one and making a video blog about their scar experience and asking others to do the same. We are trying to build an international movement,” Tippins said.

Tippins explained that scars can be tales of woe but are also signs of hope.
“Sharing one’s own experience can help others who face the same struggles to be empowered; helping to heal and liberate from the emotional, mental and physical power of scars,” Tippins said.

One hundred specially designed “Scars R Sexy” t-shirts will be shipped across the U.S., and the campaign is asking people to sign and take a picture with the shirt, and then upload that picture to the main campaign site www.scarsrsexy.com, the Facebook page www.facebook.com/scarsrsexy or Twitter @scarsrsexy.
After a signature and photo have been taken, the shirt will be passed on until 200 signatures have been obtained.

“Our goal is to acquire 20,000 signatures among all the shirts from people who believe that scars, in any shape or form, really are sexy,” said Tippins.
At the close of the campaign the shirts will be auctioned, with the proceeds from each shirt going to the winning bidders charity of choice.
